All I have to say is this is definitely way out of my league, but, oh well, I’m here so I guess I’ll just have to make the most of it J. Hamilton is in the middle of the Whitsunday Islands, which were discovered and named by Captain Cook — I have been told they were so named because they were discovered on Whitsunday. Cook only actually named one island, Pentecost, and I am not exactly sure why, other than the same reason as above — he discovered it during Pentecost. The only accommodations on the island are Hamilton Resort and a few private homes. There are about 1000 permanent residents. They have a captive audience so everything is priced accordingly. It is an amazingly beautiful place — beautiful beaches with crystal blue warm waters and also hikes through the forest to points with amazing vistas of the islands. Anyway, I was whisked off by buggy (golf cart) to my little bungalow. The bungalows are the cheapest accommodation on the island, but still quite nice. I basically just slept there, so it was more than adequate and really was like the Ritz Carlton compared to where I’d been staying.
