Weed and grass problem!!?
Next Page - Build your own in-ground pool step by step
I have a swimming pool and I have a border around the pool, with landscape rocks around the border. We didn’t do the original work, as it was done when we bought the house. We have pulled weeds and grass out that has grown through the rocks several times! I noticed that there is that black weed blocker tarp stuff down under the rocks, but it’s not stretched out very well covering the entire ground. My question is, without taking all the rocks out and putting down new weed blocker tarp all over covering the dirt, how can I keep the weeds and grass from growing in that area? I have bought all different kinds of weed/grass killer and yes it kills the weeds and grass, but we still have to pull it out, then 2 or 3 weeks later more weeds and grass will grow. I need help! How can I get rid of the weeds and grass without taking all the rocks out and pretty much starting from scratch!?? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks in advance!!

Airbob’s way is probably the best way but you can try a lazy way that isn’t as good and will probably have similar results to the weed killer method. Try putting a bunch of rock salt in with the rocks. You can get it at the grocery store. The water softener kind. I use rock salt by my chain link fence to keep grass and weeds from growing where the lawnmower wont reach and it works for a season if I put it down thick. After putting it down water it a bit to get it going.try it and see if it works for you.

You may have to redo the plastic ground cover material. Before you lay down the new plastic, use a defoliant on the bare ground. This will render the ground sterile and it will not support any plant life for about six months. After reconstructing the border, use the defoliant every six months or so to prevent further weed growth.

You may want to try a sterilant, it kills everything but you have to be very careful with it if it gets on your shoes when you are spraying it then anything you step on will also be killed, it is very powerful stuff. You can go to your local home and garden shop and ask them were and if they carry it. It is the easiest way with the least amount of work just be very careful. My husband used to pave asphalt driveways and such and that is what they would use before laying down the asphalt to avoid weeds coming up through.
